A Music-Driven Interactive Visual Novel
Resonance drops on Steam in
In a fractured cyberpunk future, memories are currency and music is power. You play an empath who hears emotions as sound — leading a crew of musicians, hackers, and mercenaries through ten episodes spanning 25 years.
The tracks you choose change the story.
This isn't a soundtrack. It's the mechanic. Players choose real, licensed EDM tracks to progress scenes. Pick the wrong song at a critical moment and the memory destabilizes — the scene collapses. Pick the right one and the story moves forward. Over 50 licensed tracks. The music isn't atmosphere. It's agency.
Each character teaches your hands a different emotional language. Draw spirals to channel light. Trace wounds to heal. Hold through pain. Type ghost code. One controller, ten emotional vocabularies.
Your playlist is your passport.
Choose wisely.
I don't break. I bend until something else gives first.
I'm not who I was. But I wouldn't change her neither. She got me here.
The world doesn't care how hard you tried. Only what you became.
Take my advice. I'm clearly not using it.
Power reveals who we truly are. Wisdom decides who we become.
Everyone has a last sound. I've heard too many.
You don't fold 'til the table breaks.
I'm not always right. But 99% of the time I am.
Luck is just timing with a good memory.
I don't lie. I just dress the truth in heels.
The memories aren't yours.
The music is.
A cyberpunk future where governments collapsed under debt and corporations filled the void. Memories became digitized currency. Music genres evolved into cultural factions — subgenre is identity, territory is sound.

Memories can be digitized, extracted, bought, and sold. An underground black market trades in stolen experiences — trauma, joy, skill, intimacy — anything someone lived through that someone else will pay to feel. The entire story is assembled from these archives. What you're playing may be incomplete, distorted, or fabricated. You won't always know which.
Every EDM subgenre has evolved into a cultural faction. Trance mystics wage spiritual warfare. Bass syndicates engineer riots. Techno infiltrators suppress and control. Pop idol cults dominate through parasocial obsession. Corporations pipe house music through every public space to keep the city calm. Subgenre is identity. Territory is sound. And the wrong track in the wrong neighborhood can get you killed.
Silence is the most
dangerous sound in this city.
Before the collapse, it was just music. After — it became language, territory, and tribe. Every genre evolved a culture. Every BPM carries a doctrine. The sound you align with isn't a preference. It's a declaration.
House. Trance. Drum & Bass. Chill. Techno. Electro. You know the music. You don't know what it's become.
Drum & Bass · Melodic Dubstep · Future Bass · Psytrance · House · Electro · Hardstyle · Trance · Midtempo · Chill
